“NÃO FAZER O MAL, FAZER O BEM, AMAR A DEUS”: AS REGRAS GERAIS METODISTAS E O COMBATE À CORRUPÇÃO

Resumo
Este artigo propõe uma leitura teológico-prática das Regras Gerais do metodismo como instrumento de resistência à corrupção. Inicia com uma crítica às abordagens teológicas pessimistas, idealistas e entusiastas, vistas como respostas eficazes ao fenómeno da corrupção. As Regras Gerais são analisadas como um tripé que articula espiritualidade e ética social. Destaca-se a sua afinidade com tradições monásticas, o duplo mandamento de amor e a concepção das obras de misericórdia e piedade, com ênfase no amor ao próximo como expressão concreta do amor divino, ações vistas como meios de graça com potencial transformador tanto para quem serve quanto para quem é servido. O artigo conclui que as Regras Gerais promovem uma teologia e prática de integridade, enraizadas na graça preveniente e vividas em comunidade, com capacidade de identificar e enfrentar estruturas corruptas por meio de uma espiritualidade encarnada, relacional e profética. Constituem, assim, um manifesto ético-espiritual contra a corrupção sistémica.
